Researchers say Oxford University vaccine is highly effective, the figure may reach 90%, interim data is 70%. Unlike Pfizer and Moderna, that demonstrated 95% effectiveness, the UK vaccine is much cheaper and easier to store. The UK government has pre-ordered 100 million doses of the Oxford vaccine, and AstraZeneca says it will make three billion doses for the world next year.(Source) . These vaccines look set to play a significant role in the fight against COVID 19 globally and hopefully they will help to bring back some much needed confidence in overseas travel for educational purposes.
Universities in England could offer degree places based on real exam results rather than predicted grades, the government has announced. A post-qualifications admissions (PQA) system could be introduced across the UK by 2023-24, says Universities UK. The plan is one of a series of recommendations from an 18-month review by university leaders across Britain. It comes after a chaotic summer exam results process meant many students lost places on their chosen courses. (Source).
Proportion of students getting first-class degrees rises by nearly 90% over eight years, OfS finds.
Around 42,000 more students graduated with firsts in summer last year compared to eight years before, according to their figures. Although concerns about grade inflation have been rife for years, amid a rising number of first-class degrees being handed out, these figures also prove that the standard of university teaching and the quality of the outcomes in terms of results is very high in the UK.(Source).
The University of Bristol independent student newspaper, Epigram, has released a list of popular student hotspots in Bristol. International students who are to start the University of London’s International Foundation Programme with us in Bristol in 2021 are welcome to use the list as a guide to the locations. Our team will be happy to help students find their way around during our induction week. Top of the list is the iconic Park Street. Click on the link to get to know more. (Source)

Bristol International College
I am a former Headmaster/Principal of schools both internationally and in the UK.
A graduate of Dartmouth College (USA), I developed my passion for international education at an early stage before qualifying as a teacher in the UK and then spending eight years working in British and American international schools in The Philippines. I returned to Bristol, England, in 2005 to lead Clifton College Preparatory School – which is one of the largest Prep schools in the UK – where I was also a member of the Clifton College (K-12) executive team. Whilst at Clifton College, the Preparatory School was annually ranked in the ‘Sunday Times Top 100’ academic schools in England.
I have travelled extensively across the world whilst running both boarding and international schools, recruiting from a wide range of cultures and nationalities. The opportunity to deliver exceptional education along with outstanding pastoral care has always been the prime motivation for me and this has led to the co-founding of Bristol International College. The City of Bristol and the UK are wonderful destinations for educational purposes and the opportunity to offer academic and pastoral excellence within the backdrop of the beautiful South-West of England is hugely exciting.
I have two children (Philippa and Henry) and am married to Helen, who is also an experienced Housemistress in boarding schools and an accomplished English teacher
